Multi-sensor-based system for monitoring animal welfare during transport
Animals are exposed to considerable stress in transport situations. This also affects a large number of zoo animal transports as part of breeding programmes and animal transports in the sports sector. The subject is a multi-sensor-based system with AI data acquisition for monitoring animal welfare during transport. The contactless monitoring of vital parameters using radar sensors is central. The combination with an optical sensor allows the measured values to be assigned individually. Real-time monitoring is guaranteed by utilising AI-based algorithms. This involves time-synchronised data fusion, which also integrates transport box-related environmental data. The data interpretation leads to the automated generation of the animal welfare score. Based on this, alarm routines are triggered in risk situations. All transport data is logged in a tamper-proof manner and is available for retrospective analysis.
