Zurich Zoo Ltd
Zurich Zoo was opened in 1929. Today, this progressive zoo sees itself primarily as a nature conservation centre for endangered species. Major investments are regularly made for this purpose. The species-appropriate and behavioural facilities are oriented as closely as possible to the ecosystems of Eurasia, South America and Africa. An integral part of the business activities is the support of numerous nature conservation projects, for which the zoo is committed to the protection of threatened ecosystems and their biodiversity in eight priority regions worldwide. In addition, the Zoo makes an important contribution to species conservation through its participation in conservation breeding programmes (EEP, ESB) with over 50 animal species. The successful breeding of Galapagos giant tortoises is unique in Europe.
