The IASP is a private research institute without basic funding under the auspices of a non-profit association (A.S.P. e. V.) It was founded in 1996 and employs approx. 35 project-related staff from various disciplines. The IASP's research focus on animal welfare is dedicated to the development of methods and technologies for improving animal health, animal welfare and husbandry conditions. Modern, sensor-based animal monitoring starts at the animal-technology interface and should make it possible to close the animal-human gap, which is due to the constantly growing size of livestock. Based on existing expertise and technical equipment, non-invasive systems for recording physiological parameters of farm animals such as cattle, pigs, horses, poultry and fish are being further developed in a consistent and application-oriented manner. The aim is to detect a disease- or stressor-related deviation from the physiological equilibrium of the individual animal at an early stage and thus to be able to avert a negative effect on its performance-relevant parameters (pregnancy, lifetime performance, birth rate, etc.) through targeted measures.<\/p>\n
